About

Welcome to My SoFlo Life — a personal take on South Florida living, shaped by salt air, expat perspective, and everyday discovery.

I’m William. A 50-something, married, former Berliner now anchored in Miami. After decades in Germany, my wife and I set our course for South Florida — not for a wild chapter, but for the next one. We’re not tourists, snowbirds, or party-hoppers. We’re home.

My SoFlo Life is about what it really means to live here full-time: the good, the gritty, and the often hilarious. I cover things that matter to grown-ups like us — from navigating Miami’s chaotic boat ramps to figuring out which neighborhoods are truly livable, to finding friendships that go beyond “see you next season.”

This South Florida lifestyle blog is my way of helping others who are building a real life in Florida. Whether you’re wondering how to buy a house, catch a fish, launch a boat without sinking it, or just want to find a decent red wine at a dockside bar — you’re in the right place.

You’ll also find moments of fun: discovering hidden dining gems, exploring new places with our old Shamrock boat, and making the most of the Florida lifestyle without losing your sanity (or your sunglasses).

Thanks for being here.

Let’s make this life on the water — and beyond — a damn good one.

– William
